The organizers of the Esencial Media Maratón San José (MMSJ) had a clear objective from the moment they conceived the race: to give runners a maximum-quality event comparable to international events. And so it was, judging by the comments and ratings from participants, who rated each aspect of the MMSJ as "Excellent".
Clear information, expedited packet pickup, traffic control like rarely seen in this country, and details such as flags at the finish line and provincial representation every 3k made the difference for MMSJ participants. "The best race that has ever been held in this country, they set the bar very high for all the competition! Everything super organized, hydration to spare, the best traffic control there's ever been, the entertainment super nice. I'm not giving more stars because FB won't allow it" wrote Néstor Ramírez on the event's Facebook, and the rest of the comments follow the same line.
At A Buen Paso we conduct a survey after each race. As seen in the image below, all aspects of the MMSJ were rated as "Excellent" by participants.

In the past year it is the only race that has achieved all seven excellents plus a resounding "Of course I would run the race again!" at the end. If we rank races based on how many people answered "Of course!" when asked if they would run it again, the MMSJ appears as the best half marathon in the country and only second behind the Clásica Palmarín among all races:
Ranking of races from the last 12 months based on how many people answered "Of course I would run it again" in the A Buen Paso survey*

We congratulate the organizers of the Esencial Media Maratón San José for creating an event in which the well-being, satisfaction, and service to runners are priorities.
